Today, we will give you a simple basic knowledge of stamping dies.
First of all, what is stamping? Stamping refers to a method of applying pressure to a material such as a plate, a strip, a pipe, a profile, and the like by a punch and a mold at a normal temperature to separate or plastically deform the material to obtain a desired shape and size. There are two main types of stamping according to the process: separation (punching) process; forming process, in the actual production process, often a variety of processes are applied to a set of molds to meet more complex shapes. The material can be divided into three steps from the deformation to the separate stamping process:
1. Elastic deformation stage: under the pressure of the punch, the material is elastically compressed, bent and deepened.
2. Plastic deformation stage: After the elastic deformation stage, the punch continues to press down, the stress in the material reaches the yield strength, and the material produces plastic shear deformation.
3. Fracture (separation) stage: when the stress near the punch reaches the material failure stress, the material breaks
Classification of stamping dies:
1. According to the characteristics of the finished process, the mold can be divided into: blanking die (drop blank / separation die); drawing die; forming die, etc.
2. According to the guiding form of the mold, the mold can be divided into: there are guiding molds and no guiding molds.
3. According to the content classification of the finished mold, it can be divided into: single-process mold (engineering mold), composite mold, continuous mold
